C'est Cidre - Not Cider

Stella Artois recently started making cidre and when last in the UK I came across this fun commercial for the drink.
Belgian Beers will eventually resume as we have tasted plenty.

Stella Artois and the SuperBowl

Belgian Beer Blog - Updates

I just realized I probably lost most of the Brasseries (breweries) linked to the Belgian beers reviewed and also the majority of Beer Blogs I used to link to.

So if you spot any missing brewery or blog and/or you want to be listed simply leave me a comment or drop me an email - I'll rectify it. Sorry for this. Design over content. Hm.

Brussels Bar Crawl

We are back - and in case you are wondering what to do this weekend (specifically tonight) the Brussels Bar Crawl launches tonight. Doubt you'll need a better reason than all the Belgian beers you can taste ... but just in case there is a free T-shirt as well as a free drink on offer .
So go, drink, have a good weekend and we'll 'read' you back for more Belgian beers next week.
Oh, and if you are planning to join the Brussels Bar Crawl let us know. We might catch up there over beers.

Belgian Beer - General

You might have noticed I was not too active blogging about Belgian beers. Not because of any less drinking but responsibilities around work increased (good!) however free time decreased (bad!). Anyway ... I'll try to bring you some more Belgian beers, but if you do have any you would like to share please let me know.

Also as readers of this blog (are there still any out there?!) if you come across any links which might not work please do let me know! So I can update them.

In the meantime, happy summer drinking. Some lovely fresh Belgian beers out there ...
Andreea

La Porteuse d'Eau

After months of building and moving and unpacking - voila back to the blogging life :)
Maybe a good opportunity to introduce to our local restaurant and bar, La Porteuse d'Eau? A GOOD place!
Let the tasting begin.
Cheers,
Andreea

320 ...

Well it seems that somehow 2009 has come to an end, without us realizing it. Or drinking that much beer. Last year around this time we had high hopes for making it to 400 by the end of this year ... We still have quite the backlog on beers and beer festivals, but those will have to wait for 2010.
However, this year we spent more time building and painting and moving than drinking. No worries though, we'll be back to normal drinking (counting!) our way through the Belgian Beers on offer in the numerous Belgian Bars around.
And if you are still looking for that last Christmas / New Year beer related gift - why not give these a chance?

Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year.
See you all in 2010. Cheers,
Andreea

Froth!

Remember way back when (oh-ho-ho) I told you about a book which will use some of my beer photos? Well, two years later - voila!

The book Froth! The Science of Beer is written by Mark Denny. And somewhere in the book - after a lot of very scientific and intelligent beer stuff - is also a photo from this very blog. The Steendonk beer made it into the book. Ha!
Autographs, anyone?

(Beer) News

Well, it's more 'news' than 'beer news'. Reason for our very long blog silence? We bought an apartment recently and all our energy goes into it. As you can see. Eventually, that will be our new kitchen.
Is there time for beer? Yes. So stayed tuned, we'll be back.

300 Belgian Beers and 2009

Hello Andreea ... now that you have tasted 297 Belgian beers are there 4 or 5 that you would consider favorites?
John from TX
Hi John from TX,
We did indeed make our way through 300 Belgian Beers and there are always favorites. Depending on mood and offer, I'll never turn down a fresh Leffe Blonde or in the summer, a Hoegaarden. Yes, we are spoiled with choice in Belgium but there is only that much effort you can put into always trying out a new beer.
However, 5 Belgian Beers stood out this past 300 beers - in no particular order:
And with this, dear Belgian Beer friends I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and let's make it to 400 in 2009!
Cheers,
Andreea.

Belgian Beers Boutique

Some more news for you:
- after celebrating 200 Belgian Beers on this blog, some of you asked when / if there is any http://www.belgian-beers.eu/ merchandise available? Hmmm ... never thought about it. But I got working and now you can have a go at a T-Shirt, a Mouse Pad or a Magnet. Your choice :) Let me know what you think and if you would like to see more products, perhaps, sometimes in the future? Do you like them? At all?

Beer Bar in Brussels - The Guardian Selection

Currently I am pretty busy with my non-beer-blogging life so apologies for the sudden silence. Any guest bloggers ready to review some Belgian Beers?
In the meantime, The Guardian wrote an interesting piece on Brussels Beer Bars. Some classics (Monk) made it to the list. Others, surprisingly, not. Do you agree with the top 10 selection? What are your favorite beers bars in Brussels?

Cheers

Cheers and a Happy New Year. I did not fall off the face of the earth. Nor did we get lost in Brazil (I wish ... the sun, the sea, the beaches ...)
Back for another year of Belgian beers. There will be book reviews. There will be beer shops. There will beguest writers. And of course a lot of beer. Shall we start? Oh and before we start, thank you all for all your visits and the time spent here on www.belgian-beers.eu in 2007.

La Taybeh - A First in Belgium

Hot off the press so to speak. La Taybeh, the first Palestinian beer, will be (is?) available on the Brussels market. The beer is produced under the licence of Ichtegem, by the Brasserie Strubbe. I will try to get my hands on one for the sake of www.belgian-beers.eu
By the way, Taybeh means excellent in Palestinian.
