Belgian Beer no.119: Speciale du Moulin

On one of our discovery walks of Belgium we ended up in Ellezelles.
There we passed by the Moulin du Cat Sauvage, which translates to the mill of the wild cat. Nothing beer related so far. Only that the mill is also producing the Speciale du Moulin, double. At 8% quite a strong beer.

Belgian Beer no.118: Bush Noel

It is not too late for another Merry Christmas is it? This seazon brought with it all the fantastic (seazonal) Christmas beers. The Bush Noel is one of them.

I wrote about the Bush beer before. Brewed by the Brasserie Dubuisson, the Bush beers are quite popular around Belgium. The Bush Noel is quite a 'young' beer, produced only since 1991. At 12% a very strong beer, amber and a slight sweet taste.

Belgian Beer no.117: Hof Ter Vrijlegem

I was not joking when I said that almost everyone here in Belgium somehow brews beer.

Here a perfect example: a farm and lovely B&B, we stayed at in 2006, the Hof ter Vrijlegem. Fantastic breakfast, great atmosphere all not too far from Brussels. The region has a lot to offer, amongst which a decent number of breweries.

But back to the farm: besides everything else, they also produce their own beer the Hof Ter Vrijlegem. Very simply presented as a Belgian beer at 9%. A pleasant beer we enjoyed back in Brussels.

Belgian Beer no.116: Special Christmas Selection

A belated Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.

The specials today: Christmas beers. Saint Monon, special Christmas. Delirium Christmas. The Gouden Carolus, Christmas. A very 'visual' La Mere Noel (Mother Christmas), and finally the Kerst Pater ... of course, as well, the Christmas special.

I will try to write up more on these beers as soon as I get some extra time.
